Regional Defaults

The Defaults Manager: Regional panel contains controls used to set regional defaults for country, weather location and source, and calculation standards. The regional defaults set here will be used in new projects by default.

SettingDescription
Continent Used to select the default continent on which new projects will be located. Selecting a continent here narrows the available location information in the following regional defaults settings.
Country Used to select the default country in which new projects will be located. The drop-down list is filtered to only list the countries with weather stations located on the default continent.
State/Province Used to select the default state or province in which new projects will be located. The drop-down list is filtered to only list the states or provinces with weather stations located in the default country.
Location Used to select the default weather station location new projects will associate with.
Weather profile Used to select a default weather profile database to use for new projects. Weather profiles from around the world are listed.
Calculation Standard Lists the calculation standards to set as the default for technical calculations such as heat gains, summertime temperatures and energy calculations.
  • CIBSE — Sets the CIBSE calculation standard as the default. CIBSE, the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers is an international professional body for the building services profession based in the United Kingdom.
  • ASHRAE — Sets the ASHRAE calculation standard as the default. ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers is an international organization that establishes standards for the uniform testing and rating of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, and is based in the United States of America.
Units Sets the default units system to SI-Metric or IP-Imperial for new projects. The selected units system will persist throughout OpenBuildings Energy Simulator tool settings and controls, dialogs and calculation results.
